USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) is a guided-missile destroyer of the United States Navy. This ship was the first ship of her class and was the first ship to be so named. Zumwalt was also planned to be assigned to Baltimore. Source : MegaTech The Zumwalt class ships are designed to handle a variety of missions. Unlike previous destroyers designed primarily for deep-sea warfare, the Zumwalt class is designed to support the ground attack in addition to strong anti-air, anti-surface, and underwater warfare capabilities. An important component of the Zumwalt's arsenal is the Long Range Land Attack Projectile (LRLAP), a projectile that has a range of 190 km inland from cannon fire.
The USS Zumwalt, which is the lead ship of the U.S. Navy's newest class of guided-missile destroyers, arrived in Pearl Harbor. The Zumalt arrived at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Wednesday. Zumwalt-class destroyers are capable of operating near to shore and in the open sea in missions against adversaries. Source : MegaTech USS Zumwalt possesses stealth, size, power and computing capacity that provide the Navy a multiple-mission ship capable of meeting today's maritime missions as well as the ability to incorporate new technologies to counter emerging threats tomorrow.
